Elite Four & Champion
The Pokémon League of Borrius. Each Elite Four member has a unique battlefield gimmick. Teams scale to your highest-level Pokémon regardless of difficulty.
TIP: Elite Four teams scale to your highest-level Pokémon. Keep your team evenly leveled to avoid facing overpowered opponents. You must defeat all four in order without returning to a Pokémon Center. Stock up on Full Restores and Revives before entering.
Elite Four Moleman
Ground & Rock Double BattlePermanent Vicious Sandstorm — deals extra damage to non-Rock/Ground/Steel types and boosts Ground-type Sp. Def
Water and Grass types are excellent here. Gastrodon has Storm Drain so avoid Water moves aimed at it. Quagsire has Unaware, ignoring your boosts. Bring Wide Guard support for Earthquake spam. Ice types work on Mamoswine only if you hit first.
Elite Four Elias
Ghost Single BattleShadowy Veil — Ghost types take half damage at full HP; immune to entry hazards at full HP; Safeguard and Substitute fail (unless used by Ghost)
Dark types are your bread and butter. The Shadowy Veil means you need to break the veil with a weaker hit first, then follow up. Knock Off removes items AND breaks the veil. Watch Aegislash's stance changes. Marshadow has Technician-boosted Shadow Sneak.
Elite Four Arabella
Fairy Single BattlePermanent Misty Terrain — Fairy types get +1 to their lowest defensive stat on entry
Steel and Poison types dominate. Misty Terrain halves Dragon damage on grounded targets and prevents status, so don't rely on Toxic stalls. Magearna is extremely bulky with Soul-Heart. Focus on raw power over status plays. Poison types should focus on Sludge Wave/Bomb.
Elite Four Penny
Dragon Double BattleRainbow Aura — Dragon types have doubled secondary effect chances (stacks with Serene Grace); Secret Power becomes an all-stat boost
Fairy types are immune to Dragon moves. Ice types hit most Dragons for 4x. The doubled secondary effects mean Rock Slide from their side flinches 60% of the time. Bring Pokémon with Inner Focus. Wide Guard is helpful against spread moves. Haxorus has Mold Breaker bypassing abilities.
Champion Rival (Champion)
Mixed Double BattleVaries based on starter choice
The rival's team adapts to your starter. Build a balanced team covering all types. The rival uses competitive-level strategy with held items and synergistic movesets. Bring your best team and expect prediction-based play.
