Smack Down damages the target and grounds them if they were previously ungrounded. This effect applies to Flying-types, Pokémon with Levitate, and those affected by Magnet Rise or Telekinesis, making them vulnerable to Ground-type moves and terrain. Smack Down also ends Magnet Rise and Telekinesis. It doesn't affect substitutes, Pokémon in Sky Drop's semi-invulnerable turn, those holding an Iron Ball, or those under Gravity or Ingrain. Smack Down negates Magnet Rise and makes Telekinesis ineffective, but doesn't affect the Air Balloon. It can target Pokémon in Fly, Bounce, or Sky Drop's semi-invulnerable turns, canceling the move if it hits Fly or Bounce but not Sky Drop. Pokémon under the Smack Down effect can use these moves later. It can also be part of a Contest Spectacular combination for extra appeal points when combined with Entrainment, Hold Hands, or Play Nice.
