General Info

Rest induces the user into a two-turn slumber, fully restoring its HP while eliminating any existing non-volatile status condition; however, it fails if the user's HP is already at its maximum. In Generation I handheld games, a glitch retains stat reductions linked to paralysis and burn, which can be alleviated by switching out. In Pokémon Stadium and subsequent games, Rest resets stat reductions from major status conditions. If a Pokémon badly poisoned by Toxic utilizes Rest successfully, it cures the poison but doesn't reset Toxic's counter; subsequent burn, Leech Seed, or poison damage follows the bad poison formula, increasing the N value by 1 each time (except for Toxic, where N resets to 1). Additionally, in Generation I, Rest fails when the user's maximum HP minus its current HP leaves a remainder of 255 when divided by 256 (e.g., 255 or 511).
