Recycle allows the user to reclaim a previously consumed held item, like a Berry, during the battle, but only if the user currently has no held item. It cannot recover items transferred to other Pokémon, knocked off, or lost through certain moves like Bug Bite, Fling, Natural Gift, or Pluck. A Pokémon can hold only one consumed item at a time. If a Pokémon with Recycle obtains another item after consuming one, it can use Recycle to recover the old item as long as it has no current held item and hasn't consumed any other items since. Once reclaimed, the item isn't considered consumed and cannot be recovered again until consumed once more.
